Gita Tanya Roberts

E-RYT 500; C-IAYT; BA

Our teacher, Baba Hari Dass said “If you work on yoga, yoga will work on you” and these words
ring true for Gita. Gita has been practicing yoga since 2000. She started to help manage stress
and her mental health while attending university. Her practice evolved to become the corner
stone for all aspects of her daily life; influencing her relationships, world view, and connection
to community.

Gita Tanya graduated from the 200 hour teacher training program at the Salt Spring Centre of
Yoga in 2011 and completed the 500 hour teacher training program at Mount Madonna in
2014. She is an experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 500) through Yoga Alliance. She
completed an 800 hour yoga therapy diploma program in 2019 and is a Certified Yoga Therapist
(C-IAYT) through the International Association of Yoga Therapists. She has been teaching since
2011 and a faculty member for the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga Teacher Training Program since
2016. She is a lifelong learner who is passionate about continuing her education for both
professional and personal growth. Babaji reminded his students about the importance of “teach
to learn” and she takes this wisdom to heart. She learns something in every class she teaches or
takes. She hopes others experience the healing and transformative powers of a regular yoga
practice – on and off the mat.

Gita strives to create a kind, inclusive space and atmosphere that welcomes every body. Her
gentle approach utilizes movement, breath, meditation, and philosophy to cultivate connection
to inner peace and well-being.

Gita Tanya is an avid hiker, cyclist, gardener, and yoga practitioner. She enjoys exploring the
outdoors with her husband and their dog.
